Randa Bessiso, Founding Director of The University of Manchester Middle East Centre in Dubai, has been named amongst the Forbes list of the Middle East’s Most Influential Women for 2018.
Randa was previously recognised by Forbes in the 2014-15-16-17 annual lists of the Middle East’s Most Powerful Arab Businesswomen.
The Forbes 2018 list recognises the achievement and contributions made by women in leadership positions in business and the public sector and comprises 100 executives and businesswomen, and 10 women leading government departments in the region.
Randa, a Lebanese national of Palestinian origin, has overseen the development of the university’s Middle East Centre and new products, services and initiatives. She is also Chair of the UAE-UK Business Council’s Higher Education Group.
Randa commented: “Talented women across the region are increasingly taking leadership roles, raising their profiles and making a deeper impact across all business sectors and in government.
I congratulate all these extraordinary women listed by Forbes for their achievements and we now share the responsibility for acting as inspirational role models to others and to supporting the next generation of female leaders.
I am delighted that The University of Manchester is playing a role in developing talented businesswomen in the region; with greater access to high-quality education and a very supportive environment I firmly believe that women here now have the opportunity to realize their potential.”
