On 30th September 2020, Professor Dame Nancy Rothwell (President and Vice-Chancellor of The University of Manchester) hosted an illuminating virtual panel discussion alongside Professor Steve Furber (ICL Professor of Computer Engineering, 2010 Millenium Technology Prize Laureate) on the astounding advancements in the area of brain-inspired computing, focusing on the SpiNNaker Project.
We were delighted to see that 53 of our esteemed alumni community attended the session from the South East Asia region, where Professor Dame Nancy Rothwell also shared with the participants on the University’s response to the Covid-19 pandemic, as well as the planned and ongoing developments and transformations in the South East Asia region.
We were delighted to have our alumnus, Mr Elangovan Karuppiah (BSc Electrical Engineering and Electronics) CEO, Regional Solutions & Services Middle East / Asia Pacific, Smart Infrastructure at Siemens, as our moderator for the insightful session.
The session was well-received, with many thought-provoking questions raised by attendees and addressed by our panellists, with a high level of engagement present throughout the discussion. We were also glad to see our senior alumni, executive committee members and executive council members of our Alumni Associations in attendance during the session.
