The Covid-19 pandemic is having a significant global impact and affecting many aspects of our lives. We are delighted that our Global MBA July intake went ahead successfully at this challenging time.
The welfare of our students is our priority so we implemented some minor changes to the structure for the first semester.
The MBA kicked off with a one-day online induction that was attended by over 350 students from 50 countries and a large range of global regions.
There were three main welcome and induction events which grouped together students from centres with similar time zones, and the same with three academic malpractice sessions, as well as drop-in Q&A events for all of the different centres. There were also ‘local’ welcome events ran by each centre where the students could learn more about the staff that would be supporting them and the careers service they can utilise.
Students usually attend face-to-face workshops for two courses alongside the induction: ‘Leading & Managing in a Global Environment’ and ‘Business Simulation Project’. To provide flexibility and choice, they had the option to attend these workshops virtually or to delay them until the next semester.
Professors facilitated the online workshop in groups of 20 to 30 students. Although delivered online, the virtual environment was engaging and interactive, building on our expertise of the Manchester Method and blended-learning methodology. The virtual workshops offered a similar amount of time with professors and peers and involved groupwork.
We hope that you and your family are staying healthy and safe during these uncertain and unprecedented times.
